The 12 commands for Pediatric Emergency Medicine

In Israel,  more then 600,000 children visit the Emergency Departments each year. The initial evaluation and management of the sick child by the ED Medical and Nursing staff, are the most important in determining the diagnosis, stabilizing the patient, and improving outcome

PEMI was established in 2003 as a section of the Israeli Association of Emergency Medicine (IAEM) by the directors of the Pediatric Emergency Departments in Israel. PEMI is actively pursuing to improve the quality of initial urgent care of the sick child at the hospital and pre-hospital level

In 2007, the Israeli Medical Association accredited the training program Pediatric Emergency Medicine. Gradutes will be formally recognised as Specialits in Emergency Medicine, Pediatric track

Objectives

Development and advancement of Pediatric Emergency Medicine in the academic, research, teaching and organizational aspects

The establishment of an organizational structure for physicians working in the field of Pediatric Emergency Medicine

Establishment of a fellowship in Pediatric Emergency Medicine

Organization of conferences and scientific meetings.   PEMI Scientific Assembly 2015

Establishment of relations with organizations outside of Israel that are involved with Pediatric Emergency Medicine practice and research

Steering Committee

On April 29, 2003 the steering committee of PEMI was elected in a democratic fashion according to the charter of IAEM, by Emergency Medicine physicians who are members of IAEM
